USI bows out of the NCAA II Tournament

Eagles fall at Northwood, 5-4

MIDLAND, Mich. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team bowed out of the NCAA Division II Tournament with a 5-4 loss to Northwood University Friday afternoon in Midland, Michigan. USI finishes the season with a 20-5 overall record, while Northwood goes to 15-4.

The Screaming Eagles had the early advantage winning two of the three doubles matches. Freshmen Ben Boesing and Juan Quiroz put USI on the scoreboard with an 8-4 win at number two doubles, while junior Ben Hamm and freshman Robert Nieters gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead with an 8-6 victory at number three doubles.

The Timberwolves climbed out in front, 4-2, with wins at number six, one, and two singles. The Eagles tied the score 4-4 when Joseph Boesing and Ben Boesing won in straight sets at number three and four singles.

Northwood clinched the win, 5-4, when Michael Haas defeated junior Nathan Lattimer in three sets.
