EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team swept Brescia University, 9-0, Tuesday afternoon at the USI Tennis Courts to improve to 12-3 on the season.
USI opened the contest by taking all three doubles matches by scores of 8-2. The Screaming Eagles wasted little time of dispatching the visiting Bearcats (2-4) in singles play as they won all six matches in straight sets.
Junior Joseph Boesing, sophomore Diego Gimenez, and freshmen Ben Boesing and Juan Quiroz each posted a pair of wins to lead the Eagles.
Gimenez and Joseph Boesing combined for a victory at number one doubles before going onto to wins at one and three singles, respectively. Ben Boesing and Quiroz paired for the win at two doubles before posting victories at two and four singles, respectively.
Sophomore Nathan Lattimer and freshman Kory Poland rounded out the Eagles' doubles squads with a win at three doubles, while freshman Robert Nieters and sophomore Ben Roeser had wins at five and six singles, respectively.
USI, which hosts Vincennes University in an exhibition Thursday at 3 p.m., opens GLVC play Saturday when it visits Bellarmine University at 9 a.m. (CDT) in Louisville, Kentucky.
