EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team had its five-match winning streak halted by the 25th-ranked Wildcats of Abilene Christian University, 6-3, Wednesday afternoon at the USI Tennis Courts.
USI freshmen Juan Quiroz and Ben Boesing took the number two dual match with a tie-breaking win of 9-8 (13-11). Abilene Christian, however, took number one and three doubles by matching scores of 8-4 to build a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Screaming Eagles (11-2) earned two more wins in singles play. Senior Joseph Boesing won in three sets at number three singles, while freshman Robert Nieters picked up a three-set win at number singles.
Abilene Christian (7-5), however, got wins at number one, two, four, and six singles to clinch the victory.
USI returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. as it heads to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to face the NCAA Division I Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky.
