Simon Rawnsley scored a goal in the 12th minute and assisted on a goal in the 16th minute as the University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College in its season-finale Sunday at Strassweg Field.
Rawnsley, who left the contest along with fellow senior
Chris Rutter to a standing ovation with two minutes remaining in the contest, gave the Screaming Eagles a 1-0 lead when he scored on a penalty kick less than 12 minutes into the contest.
His pass to Rutter in the 16th minute led to the Eagles' second goal of the match. Rutter used the pass to get a shot off that was deflected by KWC senior goalkeeper Ryan Samuels. Senior forward
Shane Cloutier took advantage of the deflection to get an open shot at the goal and give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage. Rutter also was credited with an assist on the play.
