USI women's tennis blanked by NKU, 9-0

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team was shutout by #34 Northern Kentucky University, 9-0, Saturday afternoon at the Beechmont Racquet Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. USI falls to 4-11 overall and 4-4 in the GLVC, while NKU goes to 15-6, 7-1 GLVC.
NKU sweep through the doubles matches and won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. USI sophomore Michelle Girgenti (Greenwood, Indiana) came close to breaking the shutout at number two singles, but lost in a tie-breaking pro set after splitting the first two sets.
The Eagles conclude the two-match road swing at 9 a.m. (CDT) Saturday when they travel to the University of Indianapolis.
