USI finishes road swing with 7-2 loss

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team finished a seven game road swing with a 7-2 loss at Bellarmine University Saturday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky. USI falls to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in the GLVC, while going 1-6 on the road to start the spring schedule.
Bellarmine took the early 2-1 lead after the doubles action. USI juniors Katie Jo Clagg (Terre Haute, Indiana) and Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) got the Screaming Eagles on the scoreboard with a win at number two doubles, 8-3.
The Knights sealed the victory by winning five of the six singles matches to win 7-2. USI freshman Jodie Petty (Scottsburg, Indiana) posted the Eagles' only singles win with a straight set decision (6-2, 6-3) at number six.
The Eagles returns to the friendly surroundings of the USI Tennis Courts Sunday when they play Western Kentucky University. Match time is noon.
