USI goes 0-2 on spring trip

FLORIDAÂ -- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team went 0-2 on its spring trip to Florida, losing 9-0 to Florida Tech University in Melbourne, Florida, and 8-1 to Northwood University of Florida in West Palm Beach. USI is 0-6 in 2008-09.
Sophomore Jennie LaBonte (Indianapolis, Indiana) and senior Emily Schum (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) picked up the Screaming Eagles lone victory, winning a 9-7 decision against Northwood's Kirstin Stickney and Didi Jurman at number three doubles.Â
The Eagles are idle until they start GLVC action March 20 at Kentucky Wesleyan College for a 2 p.m. match. USI finishes the first conference road swing of the year March 21 at Bellarmine University for a 10 a.m. match.
The first home match of the spring will be March 22 when the Eagles host Division I Western Kentucky University at the USI Tennis Courts.
