SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback at the hands of No. 19 Drury University Saturday morning. The Screaming Eagles also fell to Rockhurst University, 7-2, Friday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri.
Drury (9-1, 3-0 GLVC) dominated the match from the start, posting 8-1 victories in both number one and number three doubles as well as an 8-2 victory in number two doubles.Â
USI (0-8, 0-2 GLVC) went quietly in singles' action as the nationally-ranked Panthers posted straight-set victories in all six singles' matches.
In their 7-2 setback to Rockhurst (1-0, 1-0 GLVC), the Eagles fell behind early in the match as they dropped all three doubles matches, including a 10-8 tie-breaker in number two doubles.
The Eagles battled back in singles competition, winning matches at number five and six singles. However, USI suffered three-set losses at number one, three, and four singles as the Hawks completed the 7-2 victory.Â

Maggie Epkey (Sellersburg, Indiana) and freshmanÂ
Jennie LaBonte (Indianapolis, Indiana) led the Eagles with their wins against Rockhurst. Epkey posted a 6-4, 6-3 win against Brittany Hanna at number five singles, while LaBonte defeated Julie Schwarz 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 at number six singles.
USI opens its home slate Friday when it hosts No. 37 University of Indianapolis in a men's and women's doubleheader at the USI Tennis Courts. Match time is slated for 3 p.m.
