TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team posted its fourth straight shutout with a 9-0 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Wednesday in Terre Haute, Indiana. USI raises its record to 8-5 overall, while Rose-Hulman finished the season 13-8.
The Screaming Eagles went up 3-0 after doubles play, led by freshman Kyla Dorsett (Columbus, Indiana) and junior Maggie Coffman (Sellersburg, Indiana) with an 8-0 victory in number three doubles.
Seniors Kim Decker (Brownsburg, Indiana) and Betsy Gentry (Anderson, Indiana) won 8-5 at number one doubles, while senior Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) and freshman Katie Jo Clagg(Terre Haute, Indiana) picked up the victory at number two doubles.
In singles, USI completed the shutout with six straight-set victories. Freshman Gretchen Cantwell(Vincennes, Indiana) and sophomore Emily Schum (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) got on the scoreboard with victories at number four and six singles, respectively.
The Eagles return to action at the USI Tennis Courts Tuesday when they host Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at 3 p.m.
