EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team remained perfect in the GLVC with a 5-4 victory over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. USI goes to 9-5 overall and 3-0 in the GLVC, while SIUE falls to 8-9 overall, 2-1 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles went up 2-1 after doubles play when seniors

Betsy Gentry (Anderson, Indiana) and junior
Maggie Coffman (Sellersburg, Indiana) and freshman
Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) posted victories at number one and three, respectively. USI missed a chance to sweep the doubles matches when senior
Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) and freshman
Katie Jo Clagg (Terre Haute, Indiana) lost a tie-breaker at number two.
In singles, USI clinched the victory by taking three of the six matches. Decker led the way for USI at number one singles with a perfect straight set victory (6-0, 6-0), while Bartelt took the Eagles to within a win of clinching the match with a straight set win (6-3, 6-2).
The Eagles claimed the victory when freshman
Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) won in straight sets at number singles (6-4, 7-5).
The Eagles return to action at the USI Tennis Courts Friday when they host Drury University at 2 p.m.
