LOUISVILLE, Ky. The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team reached the .500 mark by defeating Indiana University Southeast Friday and Bellarmine University Saturday, 5-4. USI is 4-4 in dual match contests this spring.
In the win over IUS, the Eagles started the contest by winning two of the three doubles matches. Senior
Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) and freshman
Katie Jo Clagg (Terre Haute, Indiana) won at number two doubles, 8-3, while senior
Maggie Coffman (Sellersburg, Indiana) and freshman
Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) were victorious at number three doubles, 8-5.
In the singles action, senior
Kimberly Decker (Brownsburg, Indiana) led the way with a victory at number two singles. She was followed by Bartelt and Cantwell with wins at number three and five singles, respectively, to seal the victory.
At Bellarmine, the Eagles started slowly in singles play. USI was 2-4 in singles, getting wins by Decker and Bartelt at number two and three singles, respectively.

USI got on track in double play, sweeping the three matches. Seniors
Betsy Gentry(Anderson, Indiana) and Decker started with an 8-3 win at number one, while Bartelt and Clagg won 8-2 at number two. Coffman and freshman
Kyla Dorsett(Columbus, Indiana) completed the sweep with a 9-8 win on a 7-5 tie-breaker.
The Eagles will play their first home match of the season Tuesday when they host DePauw University at the USI Tennis Courts. Match time is 4 p.m.
