EVANSVILLE, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team dropped its home opener to Bellarmine University, 8-1, Saturday evening at Advantage Court and Fitness. The match was a non-conference match.
The evening started well for the Screaming Eagles when seniors Betsy Gentry (Anderson, Indiana) and Kimberly Decker (Brownsburg, Indiana) won at number one doubles, 8-2. USI, however, faltered at number two and three doubles to trail 2-1.
The Knight would go on to sweep the singles to post the 8-1 final. USI would get close at number three and four singles when senior Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) and freshman Katie Clagg(Terre Haute, Indiana) lost in tie-breakers.
The Eagles resume action February 25 when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College at Advantage Court and Fitness for a non-conference match.
