MARION, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana women's golf team shot a closing-round 329 Monday to finish third in the Midwest Shootout at the Kokopella Golf Course. The tournament, built as a GLVC fall preview, featured 13 schools including all 12 GLVC teams.
USI, which was five strokes back of the University of Indianapolis for second-place, opened the tournament Sunday by shooting 332. Northern Kentucky University fired a final-round 313 and finished with a two-day total of 643 to win the tournament.
Junior
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles after shooting a team-best, six-over-par 78 Monday. Wiley finished in a tie for fifth with a two-round total of 160.
Sophomore
Jessica Dooley (Goshen, Indiana) shot a team-best 79 in Sunday's opening round, before finishing the tournament with an 86 and in a tie for ninth with a two-day total of 165.
USI resumes its 2007-08 schedule next spring when it gears up for the GLVC Championship as well as a run at the NCAA II Tournament. The GLVC Championship is April 25-27 in Marion, Illinois.
