OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout of Oakland City University Wednesday afternoon in Oakland City, Indiana. USI evens its record at 3-3 overall with the victory.
The Screaming Eagles dominated the matches from start to finish. Senior Ashley Rees (Vincennes, Indiana) and junior Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) conceded only one point in route to an 8-1 win at number one doubles, while sophomore Reilly Ackerman (Allendale, Illinois) and junior Kimberly Decker (Brownsburg, Indiana) won an 8-0 decision at number two doubles.
Ackerman, Rees, and senior Cassy Froderman (Brazil, Indiana) won their singles matches in straight sets without losing a point at number one, two, and five singles, respectively. Bartelt and Decker rounded out the shutout by winning 6-0, 6-1 at number three and four singles.
OCU forfeited the number three doubles and six singles in the loss.
The Eagles resume tournament action Friday and Saturday at the Aces Classic, hosted by the University of Evansville. The next dual match for USI will begin the only homestand of the fall schedule when it hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis on September 30.
