OWENSBORO, Ky. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team got back on the winning track by defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 8-1, in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon in Owensboro, Kentucky. USI goes to 2-3 overall, while KWC falls to 6-3 overall.
Sophomore
Reilly Ackerman (Allendale, Michigan) and junior
Kimberly Decker (Brownsburg, Indiana) at number two doubles and sophomore
Maggie Coffman(Sellersburg, Indiana) and senior
Cassy Froderman (Brazil, Indiana) at number three doubles posted victories to give USI a 2-1 advantage after doubles play.
USI dominated singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Decker led the way for USI in the singles victories, defeating KWC's Elizabeth Bullock in straight sets and without losing a game.
The Eagles resume action this weekend in the ITA Regional Tournament in Midland, Michigan, and hosted by Northwood University. The next dual match for USI will be at Oakland City University on September 21.
