EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Cross Country seniors Alex Nolan and Ellie Hall were respectively named the Ohio Valley Conference Male and Female Runners of the Week in an announcement by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
 
Nolan, the reigning OVC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, earns the award for the first time this season and the fourth time of his career after finishing ninth out of 312 runners at the Michigan State-Auto Owners Spartan Invitational last Friday in East Lansing, Michigan.
 
The Evansville, Indiana, native finished the eight-kilometer course in 24 minutes, 46.0 seconds, which was less than 12 seconds off the winning pace. Nolan, who is working on his master's degree in artificial intelligence, helped lead the Screaming Eagles to a fifth-place finish in the 23-team field.
 
Nolan joins his younger brother in earning OVC weekly honors after Jackson Nolan collected OVC Runner of the Week honors seven days ago.
 
Hall, the reigning OVC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, is collecting her second straight OVC weekly honor and the fourth of her career after placing 35th out of 283 competitors last Friday at the Spartan Invitational.
 
The Ferdinand, Indiana, native completed the 6k course in 21:56.8. Hall, who is working on her master's degree in aging health, helped lead the Screaming Eagles' women to a seventh-place finish out of 24 teams.
 
USI returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. when it sends a smaller squad to compete at the Ohio Valley Conference Preview meet in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The women's 6k begins at 6 p.m., while the men's 8k is scheduled to start at 6:35 p.m.
 
The Screaming Eagles wrap up their opening month September 25 at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri.
