EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Men's Golf had a pair of athletes named to the College Sports Communications Academic All-District team for NCAA Division I.

To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Award, the student-athlete must possess a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) as an undergraduate and graduate (if applicable). They must have reached a sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution. Eligible nominees must compete in four competitions or finish in the top eight at a conference championship meet.

The Screaming Eagles earned two honorees on this year's list, with senior
Carter Goebel and graduate student
Sam Gargis each earning a slot.

Goebel, an accounting and professional services major, led the team with a per-round average of 73.97 while playing in a team-high 33 rounds during his final campaign. The senior tied for the team's overall lowest round, shooting a 66 (-5) at the Wright State Invitational in April. In addition, he earned an impressive 14th-place finish at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational following a 216 three-round score.

Gargis, a business major, transferred to USI after spending three seasons at the University of North Georgia and two at Stephen F. Austin University. He carded his season-low round of 69 (-3) at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational, helping him finish with a 74.46 stroke average, the second-best mark on the team.
