EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana and USI Athletics have announced new tailgating guidelines for athletic events, effective April 14, 2026.
The introduced tailgating guidelines will take effect at its first athletics event on Saturday, April 18, 2026, when USI Baseball hosts the University of Tennessee at Martin for Alumni Weekend at USI Baseball Field. The designated tailgating space at USI Baseball Field will be in the parking lot along the third-base, home-dugout side of the field.
The USI Tailgating Guidelines are as follows:
General Tailgating Rules
• Tailgating is permitted only at selected and designated USI home games.
• Must be 21+ years of age to consume and/or possess alcohol. 21+ attendees may bring their own alcohol ONLY in the designated Tailgating area.
• Tailgating may last no more than 3 hours.
• Tailgating must conclude 15 minutes prior to the start of the event.
• State laws and University policies apply at all tailgating events.
• Tailgaters are required to clean their areas at the conclusion of tailgating events.
• Single-service containers only. Kegs are prohibited.
• Propane grills only; charcoal and wood grills are prohibited.
• Maximum tent size: 10 ft x 10 ft, and ONLY permitted in the tailgating area.
• All tents must be secured using weights; stakes may not be used on campus.
• Vehicles must be turned off and cannot idle in the tailgate area.
• Tailgating participants may not disrupt University functions or University-sponsored events or activities.
• University of Southern Indiana and any other associated group(s) are not responsible for any lost, stolen, and/or damaged property and/or belongings of any participating tailgaters.
Prohibited Items
• Fireworks
• Glass bottles or containers
• Bulk alcohol containers
• Fire pits
• Weapons
• Smoking
