EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Men's and Women's Track & Field competes at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships Tuesday and Wednesday at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
Juniors
Alex Nolan and
Cole Hess as well as freshman
Kraedyn Young lead the Screaming Eagles' men into the conference meet after strong performances during the indoor season.
Nolan, who ranks first in the conference in both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters, is the defending champion in the 5,000 meters and is coming off a second-place finish in the 3,000 meters at the 2025 OVC Indoor Championships.
Young ranks second in the conference in the 3,000 meters and is fourth in the mile after setting USI freshman records in both events during the regular season.
Hess, who ranks fourth in the OVC in the 800 meters, broke the indoor school record with his time of one minute, 51.73 seconds at the Music City Challenge 10 days ago.
USI is lined up to score major points in the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters. The Screaming Eagles have three runners competing in the mile that rank in the OVC's top seven in the event. They also have four of the OVC's top eight performers in both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters.
The Screaming Eagles' women, who are without their top three distance runners for the OVC Indoor Championships, have been led by sophomores
Addison Applegate and
Abrielle Richard during the regular season.
Both aided USI's distance medley relay team to a conference title a year ago, while Richard was second in the 800 meters at the 2025 OVC Indoor Championships.
Applegate, who will compete in the mile as well as the 3,000 meters this week, posted OVC top eight times in the 800 meters, mile and 3,000 meters during the regular season. She ranks sixth in the mile and second in the 3,000 meters.
Richard, who holds USI's indoor records in the 800 and 1,000 meters, ranks sixth in the OVC this season with her 800-meter time of 2:15.33.
Freshman
Lilyanna Blais also could make a big impact for the Screaming Eagles this week as she ranks ninth in the league in the mile.
