BOSTON, Mass.—Junior
Alex Nolan and freshman
Kraedyn Young produced strong results for University of Southern Indiana Men's Track & Field Saturday at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic.
Young broke USI's freshman record in the mile when he crossed the finish line with a time of four minutes, 7.72 seconds, while Nolan set a personal-best time of 14:00.98 seconds in the 5,000 meters.
Nolan's time ranks first in the Ohio Valley Conference and ninth in the Great Lakes Region. It also ranks fifth all-time at USI in the indoor 5,000 meters.
Young moved into sixth all-time at USI in the mile with his performance. His time also is currently ranked second in the OVC and 39th in the Great Lakes Region.
In addition to Nolan and Young, the Screaming Eagles saw six runners post personal bests Saturday.
Junior
Tyler Zimmerman ran the mile in a personal-best time of 4:11.42, which moves him into ninth all-time at USI. Fellow classmate
Cole Hess also posted a personal-best in the mile (4:14.87), while senior
Dominick Beine (14:39.67) and junior
Landen Swiney (14:51.04) landed PRs in the 5,000 meters. Sophomore
Layden Wagoner (14:39.67) also had an indoor personal-best in the 5,000 meters.
USI Women's Track & Field had four runners competing Friday. Sophomore
Maggie Smith posted a PR with a mile time of 5:10.82. Fellow classmate
Addison Applegate was 61st in the mile, posting the second-fastest time of her career (5:01.42).
Sophomore
Abrielle Richard was 58th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.36, while junior
Zoe Seward was 62nd with a time of 18:01.69 in the 5,000 meters.
USI returns to action Friday and Saturday when they compete in the Fairground Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles close out the regular season February 13-14 with the Music City Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee, while the OVC Indoor Championships are February 24-25 in Louisville, Kentucky.
