Griffen Wheeler set a new rookie record in the 800 meters as University of Southern Indiana Men's Track & Field completed a solid trip to the Bryan Clay Invitational Friday night.
Junior
Isaac Stanford led USI in both the 800 and the 1,500 meters on the weekend, while sophomore
Alex Nolan ran the fastest 5,000-meter time in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Nolan began the two-day meet with a time of 14 minutes, 28.47 seconds in the 5,000 meters Thursday morning, while Stanford headlined USI's 800-meter efforts later in the day with a time of 1:52.50.
Wheeler finished his 800-meter race in 1:53.04, breaking the 19-year old freshman record of 1:54.28, which was set by Brandon Jones at the 2006 Washington Invitational.
Stanford wrapped the week up with a personal-best time of 3:48.74 in the 1,500 meters late Friday night. Stanford's time in the 800 meters lands him in fifth all-time at USI and sixth in the OVC this season, while his time in the 1,500 meters ranks fourth all-time at USI and second in the OVC this season.

Eli Mojonnier ran the 800 meters Thursday in 1:53.17 to move into 10th in the OVC and seventh all-time at USI.
Nolan's time in the 5,000 meters ranks first in the OVC, while freshman
Layden Wagoner moved into second place on the OVC with his time of 14:35.85.
USI returns to action April 25-26 when it competes at the Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.
