EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's and Women's Golf earned a riveting tiebreaker win over University of Evansville on Friday afternoon at Fendrich Golf Course.

Both squads tied their match play format as the men's squad won two pairings, lost two pairings, and halved one. The women's squad won two pairings and lost two. Therefore, the rivalry used a tiebreaker alternate shot coed competition as the Screaming Eagles came out on top.

USI avenged their loses to the Purple Aces in the fall in the match play format. Friday's format featured a singles match between each respective side's top men's player and partnered four-ball in the rest of the groupings. The four-ball groupings placed two USI players against two UE players with the best score between partners counting for each hole. Five total points were on the line for the men's side.

Senior leader
Jason Bannister matched up with the Purple Aces top golfer to start off the pairings. Bannister trailed early before rattling off five birdies in eight holes and earning the victory in 17 holes. Bannister finished the round four shots under par.

Tye Boone and senior
Sam Vertanen teamed up to take down their opponent in 16 holes. The duo produced five birdies in the best ball format.

Carter Goebel dropped their match in 16 holes after the Purple Aces chipped in for birdie. Freshman

Hunter Reynolds fell in 17 holes as Evansville knotted the match at 2-2.

Alexis Wymer were the final pairings needing a win to force a tiebreaker. The duo pulled out the win in an 18-hole nail bitter.

After regulation, both the men's and women's squad tied after their respective matches forcing a coed alternate shot playoff. Bannister and Vera teamed up to tie the Aces with a birdie. Next, Schneider and Vertanen also tied UE with a bogey. Finally, Wymer and Goebel clinched the victory with a par as Wymer delivered the winning putt.

What's Next
USI Men's Golf travels to Missouri State University next Monday, taking on the highly competitive Twin Oaks Intercollegiate. The women's squad takes some time off competition, before competing in the Julie Invitational in Batavia, Ohio.
