JACKSON, Tenn.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Golf finished sixth place in the Grover Page Classic. The tournament was cut to 36 holes due to inclement weather.

As a team, USI shot 573 (283-290) over the 36 holes of competition. Senior
Jason Bannister topped the scoresheet for the Screaming Eagles shooting 138 (68-70) putting him in fifth place for the tournament.

Round 1
Bannister led the way for the Eagles in the first round with his score of 68 (-4) tying him for fifth overall. Freshman
Chandler Ornelas put together an impressive 70 (-2) score in his first collegiate round.

As a team, USI finished the first round in a tie for fifth place with fellow Ohio Valley Conference competitor Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville at 283 (-5).

Senior
Sam Vertanen  improved his performance in the second round, shaving seven strokes off his first-day score and moved up 42 spots on the leader board to 24th overall. Vertanen finished the two-day tournament with a 143 (75-68).Â

The Eagles, as a team, dropped to sixth place in the final standings following a second-round 290. USI finished three strokes behind fifth-place OVC competitor Tennessee Tech University.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE EAGLES
The Eagles return to action next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State University. The trip to Jonesboro, Arkansas will be the first for USI.
