EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Golf opens the 2022-23 season when it plays in the 54-hole Golfweek Fall Challenge September 11-13. The tournament, hosted by Golfweek, is being played at True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
USI will be participating against Gardner-Webb University, Presbyterian College, Stephen F. Austin State University, University of The Incarnate Word, Austin Peay State University, University of Delaware, Wright State University, Tennessee Tech University, Queens University, Temple University, Samford University, Eastern Kentucky University, Jacksonville State University, and Coastal Carolina University.
The Screaming Eagles, who in their first season of NCAA Division I play, returns three of the five players that participated in the NCAA Division II Tournament a year ago. Sophomore
Jason Bannister (Laguna Niguel, California) posted a USI season-best 74.0 strokes per round average (spra), while senior
Zach Williams (Mt. Vernon, Illinois) followed with a 74.3 spra.
In addition to Bannister and Williams, the Eagles return pair of juniors in
Jace Day (Bloomington, Indiana) and
Peyton Short (Greenwood, Indiana). Day, who joined Bannister and Williams in the NCAA II Tournament last spring, finished the year with a 75.7 spra last year, while Short posted a 79.9 spra in nine tournaments a year ago.
