HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—Senior
Noah Hufnagel (Santa Claus, Indiana) and junior
Mitchell Hopf (Santa Claus, Indiana) carded a pair of top-40 finishes to lead University of Southern Indiana Men's Cross Country to an 11th-place finish out of 37 teams at the North Alabama Showcase Friday morning.
Hufnagel finished 12th out of 366 runners after registering an eight-kilometer time of 24 minutes, 2.9 seconds, while Hopf was 39th with a time of 24:28.8.
The Screaming Eagles had four of the top 100 finishers, including sophomores
Dylan Bland (Holland, Indiana) and
Brady Terry (Philpot, Kentucky). Bland finished 80th with a time of 24:55.5, while Terry was 100th with a time of 25:09.4. Freshman
Mukal Verma (Palantine, Illinois) rounded out the Eagles' top-five finishers with a placement of 159th, while junior
Wimach Gilo (Council Bluff, Iowa) and senior
Nick Dombroski (Noblesville, Illinois) were 185th and 192nd to round out USI's top-seven.
As a team, the Eagles finished with a team score of 329, just two points behind Georgia for 10th place, while No. 25 Alabama won the meet with a score of 74.
USI returns to action October 1 when it competes in Live at the Lou at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
