EVANSVILLE, Ind. — University of Southern Indiana Baseball opens the 2022 home schedule Saturday at 2 p.m. when it starts a three-game series with Lake Erie College at the USI Baseball Field. The series opener, originally scheduled for Friday, had to be postponed 24 hours due to the forecast of cold and inclement weather.
 
The new USI-LEC series schedule is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch Saturday, a 1 p.m. start Sunday; and a noon series finale on Monday.

USI Baseball Notes:

USI vs. Lake Erie: USI (3-0) holds an 8-1 series lead over Lake Erie after taking two of three from the Storm last season at the USI Baseball Field.
 
Lake Erie in 2022: The three-game series is the season opening game for the Storm of Lake Erie. The Storm, who are picked to place 11^th in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference this year, finished 2021 with an 8-29 record, 6-24 in the G-MAC.
 
Eagles in 2022: USI started this spring in spectacular fashion, sweeping three from #26 Young Harris College on the road last weekend. The Eagles averaged 13 runs per game in the season opening series.
 
Eagle Leaders after Week 1: USI sophomore first baseman Adam Wildeman had a team-best .667 batting average the first weekend (4-6), while junior infielder/catcher Lucas McNew (Floyds Knobs, Indiana) led the Eagles with nine RBIs and USI's only home run of the weekend.
 
On the mound, senior right-hander Brice Stuteville (Rockport, Indiana) had a 0.00 ERA in 3.1 innings of work out of the bullpen with a pair of saves.
  
Hunter all-time at USI: USI senior infielder Ethan Hunter (Terre Haute, Indiana) continues to move up the all-time lists for USI. Hunter ranks first in triples (16); tied for 13th total bases (280); 14th in RBIs (119) and 17^th in home runs (14); 16^th in runs scored (134); 21^st in hits (179); and 22^nd in doubles (27).
 
Archuleta at USI: USI Head Coach Tracy Archuleta is in his 16^th season at the helm of the Screaming Eagles. He has a USI record of 509-285 during his 16 season and has a 19-year record of 657-409 (5 years University of Wisconsin-Parkside; 14 years USI).
