USI Baseball has five named CSC Academic All-District

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Baseball senior first baseman Patrick McLellan, senior shortstop Clayton Slack, senior right-handed pitcher Andres Gonzalez, junior right-handed pitcher Ryan Weller, and sophomore right-handed pitcher Ean DiPasquale were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District for NCAA Division I. The award is the first for each of the players in their careers.
 
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Award, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale). They must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and completed at least one full academic year.
 
McLellan played and started in all 58 games as a senior, batting .347 with 59 runs scored, 15 doubles, a triple, five home runs, and 49 RBI. He led the team in doubles and RBI and tied for the team lead in home runs.
 
The sport management major recorded a career-high with six hits at Cal State Bakersfield; two doubles versus Evansville; six RBI versus Lindenwood, and four runs scored versus Oakland twice. The San Diego, California, native finished his USI career with a .323 batting average in 101 games/starts.
 
McLellan concluded his USI seasons with 73 RBI, six home runs, 19 doubles, and four triples.
 
Slack started all 58 games for the Screaming Eagles, batting a career-best .323 with 40 RBI, seven doubles, a triple, and three home runs. He posted a career-high five hits and four runs scored versus North Alabama, while driving in a career-best four RBI versus Butler and Cal State Bakersfield.
 
The sport management major from Viroqua, Wisconsin, finished his career at USI with a .309 batting average with 75 RBi, 17 doubles, five triples, and three home runs in 114 starts.
 
Gonzalez finished the season with a 2-1 record and a 4.04 ERA in 34 games and 49.0 innings. He made three starts in 2026 and tied for first on the team with four saves, while striking out a season-high four batters at Purdue.
 
The sport management major from Nogales, Arizona, concluded his career with a 4-5 record and a 4.68 ERA in 53 appearances and 15 starts. He also struck out 100 batters in 117.1 innings of work during his two seasons at USI.
 
Weller posted a 4-5 record and a 5.32 ERA in 15 starts and 71.0 innings during 2026. He struck out a team-high 55 batters, including a season-best seven batters versus Morehead State twice.
DiPasquale led the USI starting pitchers with a 3.88 ERA in 62.2 innings of work. He ranked second on the team with four victories and finished the year with a 4-3 record, appearing in 17 games and making 13 starts.
 
The kinesiology major from Belleville, Illinois, was fourth on the team with 37 strikeouts, including a season-best eight in a loss at Morehead State. He held opposing hitters to a .222 batting average.
 
DiPasquale was named OVC Pitcher of the Week after his seven-inning complete-game shutout of Western Illinois.
