EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team secured a 9-0 route over regional foe Oakland City University on Thursday.
The duo of freshman
Alexander Lawrenz (Hamburg, Germany) and junior
Ilia Karelin (Ekaterinburg, Russia) started things off with an 8-0 win over their opponent. Senior
Samuel Kiladejo (London, England) and junior
Andrew Dones (Georgetown, Indiana) notched the second win for the Eagles 8-3.
Spencer Blandford (Louisville, Kentucky) and freshman
Yahor Bahdanovich (Minsk, Belarus) won by default.
In the singles competition, Dones took the win 6-0, 6-1 to lead off. Freshman Martim Café (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) and Kiladejo won their matches as well with a 6-0, 6-0 and a 7-5, 6-0 final. Sophomore
Kooper Falkenstein (Jeffersonville, Indiana) notched yet another win for the Eagles 6-1, 6-0. Blandford and Bahdanovich each won by default.
McKendree University will come to town on Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m. for the Eagles' next match in a GLVC battle.
