Men's Tennis Set to Meet Tritons in GLVC Tournament

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team has qualified for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament in Springfield, Missouri, at the Cooper Tennis Center.

USI (8-12, 3-2 GLVC) finished third in its division behind first-place University of Indianapolis and second-place Lewis University after being swept by both teams over the weekend in 9-0. 5-4 losses.

The Eagles garnered their three divisional wins from 5-4, 8-1, and 5-4 victories over University of Illinois-Springfield, Bellarmine University, and McKendree University to pit themselves up against the number-two seed from the west division, University of Missouri-St Louis.

The Tritons finished the regular season 12-3, 5-1 in the GLVC with their lone conference loss coming at the hands of the number one seed out of the west, Drury University. This is the first time USI and UMSL will meet this season. Scheduled matches in March and April were postponed and eventually canceled due to weather.

The match is set for a 9:00 a.m. start time on Friday, April 20. A win for the Eagles would mean they await the winner of the number one seed from the East, Indianapolis, and the number four seed from the west, Rockhurst University.
