LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team captured their second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference win over the weekend with a 8-1 victory over Bellarmine University.
USI (6-10, 2-0 GLVC) swept the doubles competition with the tandem of junior
Andrew Dones (Georgetown, Indiana) and senior
Samuel Kiladejo (London, England) winning at the number one slot 8-3. Next came freshman
Alexander Lawrenz (Hamburg, Germany) and junior
Ilia Karelin (Ekaterinburg, Russia) at the number two position winning with an 8-3 final tally. The final doubles victory came with the duo of freshman
Spencer Blandford (Louisville, Kentucky) and freshman
Martim Cafe (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) winning 8-0.
Lawrenz posted another victory at the number one singles spot 1-0. Karelin then followed with a 6-0, 6-3 victory with Kiladejo followed up with a 6-3, 6-2 win of his won. Dones then secured the number four spot with 6-1, 6-1. The final USI victory came at the number five spot with Blandford with a 6-0, 6-1 final tally.
The next USI match will be on Wednesday, April 4 at 2 p.m. for a showdown in New Albany, Indiana with Indiana University-Southeast.
