RENSSELAER, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team won its third straight match Friday afternoon, when they defeated Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Saint Joseph's College 9-0.
The Screaming Eagles (9-8, 2-1 GLVC) won four singles matches by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Those were by junior
Kelsey Shipman (Olney, Illinois) at number two, senior
Brenna Wu (Evansville, Indiana) at number three, freshman
Alex Jamison (Floyds Knobs, Indiana) at number five, and junior
Haley Jones (Ft. Branch, Indiana) at number six.
Freshman
Lauren Hambrock (Terre Haute, Indiana) was victorious at number one after going three sets, winning 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Senior
Kymberly Brannon (Louisville, Kentucky) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles at number four with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
In doubles, Wu and Shipman teamed up at number one for an 8-3 win. The duo of Hambrock and Brannon won 8-1 at number two, and the pair of Jamison and Jones won 8-0 at number three.
The Eagles host NAIA Taylor University tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the USI Tennis Courts before returning to GLVC play Sunday when they host Bellarmine.
