EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 34
th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team topped 43
rd-ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis 5-1 Sunday evening at the Evansville Tennis Center. Three of the singles matches went unfinished.
USI (9-5) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Falling behind 1-0 after number three doubles, senior
Aaron Barris (Marietta, Georgia) and junior
Samuel Kiladejo (London, England) tied the match at 1-1 with an 8-6 win at number two. USI then took a 2-1 lead with an 8-4 win from sophomore
James Hardiman (Backwell Bristol, United Kingdom) and freshman
Denis Davydov (Chorvatsky Grob, Slovakia) at number one.
In singles, Davydov picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at number two to extend the Screaming Eagles' lead to 3-1. The Eagles then wrapped up the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number five by sophomore
Ilia Karelin (Ekaterinburg, Russia) and a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win at number six by sophomore
Andrew Dones (Georgetown, Indiana).
USI hosts Daemen College (N.Y) at the Evansville Tennis Center Wednesday at noon.
