TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team defeated the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 8-1, Saturday afternoon in Terre Haute, Indiana for their sixth straight victory. The 45
th-ranked Screaming Eagles move to 11-3 (1-0) on the year in their final non-conference match.
The Eagles continue to dominate doubles play sweeping the competition during the team's six-match win streak. Junior
Aaron Barris (Marietta, Georgia) and freshman
James Hardiman (Blackwell Bristol, United Kingdom) move to 8-0 on the year with their win while the senior team of
Jack Joyce (Bournemouth, England) and
Joel Stern (Mjoelby, Sweden) have won all seven of their matches in 2015-16. Junior
Paul Forichon (Nimes, France) and sophomore
Samuel Kiladejo (London, England) won their sixth straight match together moving to 7-1 on the season.
Sophomore
Anthony Van Rompay (Schilde, Belgium) was able to seal the USI victory with the fifth win of the contest earning a 6-3, 6-0 victory at number-five singles. Joyce picked up his seventh straight win and moved to 14-3 on the year with his 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 win at number-two. Also continuing his impressive singles win streak, Hardiman earned his fifth victory in a row at number-three by a score of 6-2, 6-2 for the final Eagles' victory of the match.
The Eagles return to conference play on Friday when McKendree University makes the trip to Evansville for a 2 p.m. match up at the USI Tennis Courts.
