Eagles start spring with shutout of IUSE

EVANSVILLE, Ind.---The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team defeated Indiana University Southeast, 9-0, Friday afternoon at the Evansville Tennis Center. It is the Eagles' first victory of the 2015-2016 season having only competed in the ITA Regional Tournament this past fall.

USI was led by sophomore Samuel Kiladejo (London, England) at number one singles who dropped the first set of his match, 7-5. That would be the only set the Eagles lost in all nine matches as Kiladejo took the second set, 6-1, and won the superset with a score of 10-6. The doubles tandem of Kiladejo and junior Paul Forichon (Nimes, France) took an 8-2 victory at number one in doubles play. The match was sealed for USI when freshman Ilia Karelin (Ekaterinburg, Russia) won without dropping a single set, 6-0, 6-0, for the fifth Eagles' victory.

USI returns to action next Saturday hosting Division I opponent, Austin Peay State University. That match will take place at the Evansville Tennis Center starting at 5 p.m.
