Big Rapids, MI.- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team was defeated by Ferris State University, 8-1, Saturday afternoon in Big Rapids, Michigan. The Screaming Eagles move to 2-3 on the year in their third match of the spring season.
The USI point came at number one doubles courtesy of
Elizabeth Wilm (Evansville, Indiana) and
Brenna Wu (Evansville, Indiana). The hard fought victory went deep into a tiebreaker as the Eagle's duo came away with a 9-8 (9-7) victory.
Wilm and
Kelsey Shipman (Olney, Illinois) both forced a third set in their singles matches. Wilm picked up a 4-6 win in the second set of her match at number one singles, before dropping the third set 6-4. Shipman opened her match at number two singles with a 6-3 win. Ferris State's Nika Hein forced a third set, winning 7-6 (7-2).
USI returns to action on Sunday morning taking on the Lakers of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan starting at 7 a.m.
