Joyce notches another GLVC weekly honor

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana junior Jack Joyce (Bournemouth, England) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the third time this season Tuesday in an announcement by the league office.

Joyce went a combined 7-1 to lead the No. 25 Screaming Eagles to a 4-0 record this past week.

The 2013 GLVC Freshman of the Year, Joyce went 4-0 at No. 1 singles play, including 2-0 in GLVC action, while combining with red-shirt freshman Aaron Barris (Marietta, Georgia) for a 3-1 mark at No. 1 doubles. Joyce's win at No. 1 singles proved crucial for the Eagles in their 5-4 win over McKendree.

For the season, Joyce is a combined 41-9 overall, including 21-4 in singles play and 20-5 in doubles competition. In dual action, Joyce is 15-3 at No. 1 singles and is 9-3 in doubles competition.

Joyce becomes the first men's tennis player in GLVC history to earn GLVC Player of the Week honors three times in a single season.

USI is 13-5 on the season and 4-1 in GLVC play. The Eagles conclude the regular-season Saturday at 10 a.m. when they visit the University of Illinois Springfield.
