KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The University of Southern Indiana Men's and Women's Tennis teams have their seeds set for Friday and Saturday's Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Screaming Eagles men's squad is the No. 2 seed from the East Division and will play the No. 3 seed from the West Division, Rockhurst University at Noon CDT Friday at the Loyola Park Tennis Courts at Rockhurst. The winner of that match plays No. 1 seed from the West, Drury University or McKendree University, the East's fourth seed. The Eagles enter postseason play with a 14-5 overall record and a 5-1 mark in GLVC action. USI is led by junior
Jack Joyce, who compiled a 16-3 record in singles competition and was honored with the conference's player of the week award three times in 2015. The Eagles finished the regular season on a six match winning-streak.
On the women's side, USI is the fourth seed from the East and plays the West's top draw Drury University at 9:00 a.m. CDT Friday at the Overland Park Racquet Club. If the Eagles take down Drury, they will play the winner of second seeded Lewis University and third seeded Maryville University. USI's women return to the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2013, when the Eagles were bounced in the first round. The Eagles enter this year's tournament as the hottest team in the conference, winning their last five matches and amassing a 14-7 overall record and 3-3 GLVC mark this spring.
