EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The No. 28 University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the University of Findlay, 6-3, in a Midwest Region match Friday at the Evansville Tennis Center.
After dropping falling behind, 2-1, in doubles play, the Screaming Eagles won five singles matches to pull off the victory.
Freshman
Roman Laga (Baiersbronn, Germany) went 2-0 to lead the Eagles. Laga paired with fellow classmate
Anthony Van Rompay (Schilde, Belgium) for an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles before earning a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.
Laga's win at No. 5 singles clinched the victory for USI, which also earned a three-set win at No. 1 singles as well as straight-set victories at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 singles.
Junior
Jack Joyce (Bournemouth, England) was victorious at No. 1 singles, while freshman
Samuel Kiladejo (London, England) won at No. 3 singles. Sophomore
Aaron Barris (Marietta, Georgia) and junior
Joel Stern (Mjoelby, Sweden) were winners at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
USI returns to action next Friday at 11 a.m. when it hosts Tiffin University at the Evansville Tennis Center.
