28th-ranked Eagles slay Dragons

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 28th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team won its second-straight to open the season with a 9-0 victory over Midwest region adversary Tiffin University Saturday morning at the Evansville Tennis Center.
 
The Screaming Eagles took control of the match quickly by winning all three of the doubles matches. Juniors Jack Joyce and Joel Stern led the way in doubles with an 8-3 win in the second spot.
 
Freshman Samuel Kiladejo and Sophomore Aaron Barris followed with an 8-4 victory at number three doubles, while freshmen Anthony Van Rompay and Roman Laga closed out the doubles sweep with an 8-6 at number one.
 
The Eagles continued the demolition in singles competition, as Tiffin took just one set from USI in the contest. Joyce continued his domination with a 6-1, 6-1 straight-sets victory at number one.    
 
USI returns to action Sunday against another Midwest region foe, Walsh University, at 6 p.m. at the Evansville Tennis Center.
