EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Sophomore Brenna Wu (Evansville, Indiana) posted a combined 3-3 record this weekend to lead the University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team at the UE/USI Fall Invitational, which featured the Screaming Eagles, University of Evansville, Austin Peay State University, and the University of Charleston (West Virginia).

Wu went 2-1 in singles play, posting a straight-set victory over Austin Peay's Brittney Covington Friday before tallying a three-set triumph over Charleston's Marieve Edwards Saturday. Wu's only blemish in singles competition came in straight sets against UE's Andjela Brguljan.

In doubles competition, Wu paired with freshman Ashlee Hasson (Columbus, Indiana) for an 8-7 win over Charleston's Kelsey Hensley and Toni Katipa. She also teamed up with freshman Kelsey Shipman (Olney, Illinois) in an 8-4 setback to UE's Brguljan and Natasha James as well as junior Elizabeth Wilm (Evansville, Indiana) for an 8-5 loss to Austin Peay's Ornella Di Salvo and Vanessa Tavares.

As a team, the Eagles went 8-24 overall, including 5-18 in singles play and 3-6 in doubles action. Sophomore Kymberly Brannon (Louisville, Kentucky) had a three-set win to help the Eagles finish with a 2-4 singles mark against Austin Peay. Shipman and sophomore Miranda Camp (Terre Haute, Indiana) also had wins in singles action as USI went 3-8 against Charleston.

Brannon and Shipman paired for a doubles win against Charleston, as did Wilm and junior Elizabeth Skinner (Paducah, Kentucky). USI was 3-1 against Charleston in doubles competition, but was 0-3 against UE and 0-2 against Austin Peay.

USI resumes the fall season Saturday at 1 p.m. (CDT) when it travels to Georgetown, Kentucky, to take on Georgetown College. The Eagles also visit Indiana University Southeast next Sunday and Brescia University October 8 to close out the fall season.
