Josh Walden each posted a pair of wins to help lead the No. 22 University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team to a 6-3 road win over Bellarmine University in its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Saturday.
Joyce paired with freshman
Joe Bray for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Walden teamed up with fellow classmate
Dimitri Stocker for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Screaming Eagles (11-5, 1-0 GLVC) took a 2-1 lead heading into singles play, where they clinched the match with straight-set victories at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 singles. Joyce earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, while Walden grabbed a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles.

Santiago Lopez forged a 6-4, 6-4 decision at No. 1 singles, while sophomore
Joel Stern won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Bellarmine (5-6, 0-1 GLVC) had an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles and won in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.
The Eagles return to action Friday when they visit the No. 39 University of Indianapolis Greyhounds. The men's and women's doubleheader is slated for a 1 p.m. (CDT) start time in Indianapolis.
