Eagles open spring season with two wins

ST. CHARLES, Mo. –The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team earned a pair of victories to open the spring season. 
 
The USI opening weekend began with a 9-0 sweep of Lindewood University-Bellville in Bellville, Illinois. Freshmen Joe Bray and Josh Walden ignited the shutout with an 8-3 victory at number one doubles.  USI was powered in singles by sophomore Jack Joyce, who captured the victory at number one, 6-1, 6-0. 
 
The Screaming Eagles traveled to St. Charles, Missouri, to complete the weekend sweep, winning a 7-2 decision against the Lindenwood University Lions. The Lions excelled in number one and number two singles with a pair of three-set wins. USI, however,  earned wins in number three through number six singles en route to a 7-2 victory. The six singles matches featured seven tiebreakers.
 
Next on the docket for the Eagles are a string of matches in Ohio against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference  foes Walsh University, Tiffin University, and the University of Findlay on February 13 and 14.
