USI wins GLVC East Division

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Claiming an 8-1 victory Saturday afternoon lifted the 40th ranked University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team past the University of Indianapolis in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
 
The Screaming Eagles with the victory also won the GLVC East Division title. USI ends the regular season with a 13-4 overall mark and a 5-0 record in league play, while UIndy goes to 5-4 in 2013 and 2-3 in GLVC action.
 
In doubles, USI finished off the Greyhounds to claim all three points and senior Ben Boesing, and freshman Jack Joyce, along with seniors Rodrigo Flores and Santiago Lopez have combined to win 17 straight matches.
 
The Eagles won No. 1 and 2 singles with senior Michael Kuzaj and classmate Juan Quiroz claiming the 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2, 7-5 wins.
 
Boesing, meanwhile, kept his perfect record in tack after he won 6-2, 6-3 at the No.4 slot. Joyce also was a winner 6-1, 6-1, while Flores finished the singles action off with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 win.
 
USI's next action is the GLVC Tournament April 19-20 in Indianapolis at North Central High School.
