EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 37
th ranked University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory over Lindenwood University Saturday night at the Evansville Tennis Center.
The Screaming Eagles were a third-set tiebreaker from taking all nine matches. Sophomore
Michael Kuzaj won the first set 7-5, but dropped the second 6-4. In the tiebreaker, Kuzaj fell in a heartbreaker 10-6.
Seniors
Juan Quiroz and
Ben Boesing, along with freshman
Jack Joyce all won their match 6-0, 6-1. Freshman
Joel Stern went to three-sets after falling in the second 6-0, but won the tiebreaker 11-9.
In doubles action for the Eagles, Boesing and Kuzaj won their match 8-1, while Quiroz and Joyce were victorious 8-3. Juniors
Santiago Lopez and
Rodrigo Flores completed the doubles sweep for USI with an 8-6 win.
Next on the docket for the Eagles is a match against 11
th ranked Abilene Christian University February 7 in Murray, Kentucky.
