EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team needs to continue its push for a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament when it returns to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field this week. The final homestand of the 2013 season includes Truman State University (7-4-3, 5-4-3 GLVC) Friday at 7:30 p.m. and conference-leading Quincy University (11-4-0, 10-2-0 GLVC) Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Sunday's USI-Quincy match-up is Senior Day for the Screaming Eagles.
The Eagles (5-6-3, 4-6-2 GLVC) conclude the regular season with a road match October 30 when it travels to Bellarmine University (7-4-3, 5-4-3 GLVC) for a 2:55 p.m. (CDT) contest.
WEEK 8 EAGLE NOTES:
Eagles continues second half roll in Week 7: The Eagles have been on a roll the last three weeks, going 3-0-2 in the last five matches. Last weekend, USI defeated Maryville University, 3-1, Friday and forced a double-overtime tie at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 0-0.

USI in the 2013 GLVC: Despite being unbeaten in the last five matches, USI remains in 12
th place in the GLVC. The Eagles are still in the hunt for a trip to the league's post-season tournament, but need a pair of wins in the final three matches and some help to try and snatch one of the last tournament slots.

Corey Fundenberger (Lebanon, Indiana) missing the final three matches with knee injuries.
USI starting to score. USI has picked up the scoring pace the last five matches, averaging 2.0 goals per contest and reaching three goals three times. The Eagles averaged 1.2 goals per match through the first nine games and reached three-or-more goals twice.

Corey Fundenberger (Lebanon, Indiana) jumped into the scoring lead with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Junior forward
Caleb Mathers (Clarkston, Michigan) is second with nine points on four goals and one assist, while senior forward

Eagles vs. Truman State: USI trails the all-time series with Truman State, 9-4-1. The last time the Eagles won a meeting with the Bulldogs was in 1991 when they were known as Northeast Missouri State University, 1-0. Truman State has won eight meetings with USI. The Bulldogs also feature Nick Tomais, the GLVC's second leading scorer who has 14 points on six goals and two assists.
Truman State in the GLVC. The Bulldogs, who play Lindenwood University Wednesday, are tied for eighth during their inaugural season in the GLVC. Truman State won a double-overtime match with McKendree University, 3-2, last Sunday and forced a double-overtime tie with Bellmarine University, 0-0, last Friday.
Eagles vs. Quincy. The Eagles are looking to break a nine-match winless streak with the Hawks after dropping last season's match, 1-0, in Quincy, Illinois. Quincy leads the all-time series with USI, 15-3-1.
Hawks in the GLVC. Quincy, which plays the University of Illinois Springfield on Friday before coming to Strassweg Field, sits on top of the GLVC standings. The Hawks have won four straight matches and seven of their last eight. Quincy also features the Jordan Roberts, who ranks fourth in the league in points (13) and second in goals scored (six).
Eagles vs. Bellarmine. The Eagles lead the all-time series with the Knights, 21-13-1, after splitting last year's contests. USI lost the regular season match at Strassweg Field, 1-0, but won the GLVC Tournament match-up, 2-1, in Louisville, Kentucky. Bellarmine has won three of the last four match-ups with USI with two games going to overtime.
Knights in the GLVC. Bellarmine, which is also tied for eighth in the league, hosts Maryville and UMSL this weekend before welcoming USI next week. The Knights are at .500 in their last five matches, going 2-2-1.
