EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 32
nd-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team closed out the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament with third place finish after defeating Northern Kentucky University, 5-2, Saturday morning in Springfield, Missouri. USI, who was the top seed from the East Division, rises to 21-3 overall and awaits a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament that is announced Tuesday night.
The Screaming Eagles trailed early after losing number one doubles, but bounced to take the matches at number two and three. Senior

Juan Quiroz put the Eagles on the scoreboard with an 8-4 win at number two, while juniors
Ben Boesing and
Rodrigo Flores won 8-3 at number three doubles.
In singles, USI closed in on the victory with straight set victories by Boesing at number three singles and Flores at number six singles. The Norse closed the gap to 4-2 with a victory at number five singles before sophomore
Santiago Lopez closed out the match with a win in number two singles when his opponent retired in the third set. Lopez was leading 5-3 in the third set when the match ended.
The match also concluded with Quiroz tied 4-4 in the third set at number one singles and freshman
Michael Kuzaj getting ready to start a third set at number four singles.
