EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The No. 32 University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team breezed to an 8-1 victory over visiting University of Indianapolis to conclude its regular-season schedule Sunday at the USI Tennis Courts.

USI (19-2, 5-0 GLVC) swept doubles play before taking five-of-six singles matches in straight sets. Freshman Michael Kuzaj and sophomore Santiago Lopez got the Screaming Eagles off to a 1-0 lead with an 8-2 win at number one doubles.

Senior Diego Gimenez and junior Juan Quiroz got to within a win of USI's single-season doubles record (26) as they followed with an 8-2 triumph at number two doubles. Juniors Ben Boesing and Rodrigo Flores rounded out the Eagles' sweep of doubles play with an 8-1 victory at number three doubles.

Quiroz, Lopez, Boesing, Kuzaj, and Gimenez all were victorious in singles play. Gimenez is now just seven wins shy of USI's single-season record for combined wins (52), while Boesing moved to within five wins of USI's single-season singles' record (29).

USI, which clinched the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division title Saturday, begins GLVC Tournament play Friday in Springfield, Missouri. The Eagles need just three wins to match their all-time single-season record.
