ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team returned the road and picked up an 8-1 non-conference win over the University of Missouri-St. Louis Sunday in St. Louis, Missouri. USI rises to 13-2 overall, while UMSL falls to 3-3 in 2011-12.
Three straight wins in doubles gave the Screaming Eagles command of the match. Juniors
Ben Boesing and
Rodrigo Flores put USI into the win column with an 8-1 victory in three doubles.
The Eagles completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win by sophomore
Santiago Lopez and freshman
Michael Kuzaj at number two doubles and an 8-5 victory by senior
Diego Gimenez and junior
Juan Quiroz at number one doubles.
USI completed the victory by taking four of the five singles matches. The Eagles posted straight set wins in four of the victories to dominate.
The Eagles return the USI Tennis Courts for their second home match of the spring when they host Lindenwood University Friday at 2 p.m. This is the final non-conference match before GLVC play begins.
