USI posts a 7-2 win over Wayne State

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team posted its second straight neutral site win with a 7-2 victory over Wayne State University in Indianapolis, Indiana. USI rises to 5-1 in 2011-12, while WSU fall to 2-2.
 
The Screaming Eagles jumped out front early by sweeping the doubles matches. Juniors Rodrigo Flores and Ben Boesing put USI on the scoreboard first with an 8-4 victory at number three doubles, while senior Diego Gimenez and junior Juan Quiroz gave the Eagles a 2-0 led with an 8-6 win at number two doubles.
 
Sophomore Santiago Lopez and freshman Michael Kuzaj completed the doubles sweep with a tiebreaker win at number one doubles, 9-8 (3).
 
The Eagles secured the victory by winning four of the six singles matches. Boesing picked up USI's fourth win with a victory at number three singles, while Lopez clinched the win with a straight-set win at number two. Kuzaj and Gimenez posted wins at number four and five singles, respectively,  to round out USI's seven victories.
 
USI resumes action on the road in Ohio when it travels to Tiffin University on February 24 and Cedarville University on February 25. The Eagles are still away from the USI Tennis Courts for the next seven matches before hosting Lindsey Wilson College March 12.
