USI opens 2010 home schedule Saturday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team opens the 2010 home season Saturday with a noon doubleheader against Tiffin University to begin a three-game series. The doubleheader was moved from 1 p.m. to noon due weather considerations.

The three-game series runs through Sunday when the teams are set to square off in a noon single-game.

The Screaming Eagles (3-3) are coming off a .500 six-game road swing to begin the year. USI defeated Arkansas Tech University and dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Missouri Western State University last weekend, after taking two of three from Armstrong Atlantic State University to start the year.

USI junior catcher Dylan Mooney (St. Charles, Missouri) leads the team with a .353 batting average at the plate, while junior outfielder Justin Blinn (Vincennes, Indiana) has a team-best six RBIs.

Tiffin (3-4) comes to Evansville after splitting a neutral site four-game series against Slippery Rock University last week. The Dragons started the year by losing a three-game series to the University of West Georgia.

The three-game series will be the first meeting between USI and Tiffin in baseball.
